Badure v. John Doe Company

Settled at Mediation with WAMS (Washington Arbitration & Mediation Services) in favor of Plaintiff for $475,000

Mr. Badure suffered a right hemisphere stroke resulting from total occlusion of his right internal carotid artery following traumatic dissection of the artery as the result of an on-the-job injury sustained at the defendant's warehouse on October 20, 2000. The injury occurred when a wall of cardboard boxes inside a cargo container collapsed on him as he was unloading the container. His reflexive movements to avoid the falling boxes resulted in the hyperextension of his neck as the boxes fell onto him, and he fell backwards against the side wall of the container.

Parker v. Purdy Sand & Gravel

Settled at Mediation with JDR (Judicial Dispute Resolution) in favor of Plaintiff for $2,200,000

Ms. Parker sustained severe, permanent, and life-threatening injuries, including severe closed head injuries, internal injuries, and multiple orthopedic injuries as a result of an automobile accident which occurred on November 7, 2001, when the vehicle she was a passenger in collided with a detached Reliance dump truck trailer that was illegally parked partially on the roadway.

Melchor v. Gly Construction & Tri State Construction

Settled at Mediation with WAMS in favor of Plaintiff for $220,000

Mr. Melchor suffered a severe ankle and foot injuries when bending over to lace up his work boots. He placed his left foot on a stack of manhole frames and covers that appeared stable but the stack of materials began to slide towards him. One of the three hundred pound units struck the inside of plaintiff's right foot and ankle. Its crushing weight caused the plaintiff to fall while his foot and ankle were pinned by the size and weight of the steel frame and cover.

Rahn v. State of Washington

Settled at mediation with WAMS in favor of Plaintiff for $400,000

Mr. Rahn suffered permanently impaired vision in his right eye following an assault by a fellow patient at Western State Hospital. Mr. Rahn was stabbed in the eye with a sharp pencil being wielded by a fellow patient, without provocation or warning. He alleged that the hospital was negligent in permitting sharp instruments in the facility where plaintiff was housed, and for not preventing access to such dangerous instruments by patients of this mental health hospital. Residual impairments included distorted, minimal right eye vision, and frequent migraine headaches. Mr. Rahn wears an eye patch to avoid ocular fatigue and resulting debilitating pain.
